ON 23 January, the Electronic Communications and Postal Regulatory Authority of Gabon awarded a license for a high-speed Internet provider (FTTH) to the Vivendi Africa (GVA) group.
According to the Chairman of the Regulatory Board, Lin Mombo, this license to operate the Vivendi Africa Group by the Gabonese authorities will make it possible to contribute to the democratization of the Internet in homes, to support economic and social development, more to participate extensively in the diffusion of information and communication technologies in Gabon.
The provision of broadband Internet is intended for homes and businesses. And according to Marco De Assis, President of the Vivendi Africa group, FTTH is one of the best high-speed Internet access technologies offering the highest quality of service, including the highest speed and unlimited bit rates.
In this sense, Marco De Assis promised to launch the deployment of aerial optical fiber in several homes in Libreville and to companies at democratic prices.
This deployment will be made possible thanks to the Canal + competition, through the television subscriptions distributed to the populations, but also thanks to the installations of the Gabonese Energy and Water Corporation (Seeg).
It should be noted that this first FTTH license will make Vivendi Africa (GVA) the first broadband Internet operator in Gabon.
